Energetic Adventures around Arenal Volcano
Explore one of the world’s renowned and actively erupting volcanoes by visiting Arenal Volcano National Park in the northern region of Costa Rica. Since 1968, this impressive volcano, towering at 5,358 feet above sea level, has been captivating visitors. Immerse yourself in the lush rainforest surroundings with a hike to witness the volcano up close, or choose to appreciate its grandeur from afar while relaxing in the Tabacón Hot Springs nearby.
Experience the rainforest canopy from a unique perspective by traversing the hanging bridges—a series of suspension bridges offering breathtaking views of the landscape and wildlife. For those seeking an adrenaline rush, Arenal provides opportunities for ziplining, horseback riding, and white water rafting. If time permits and you desire to explore another natural marvel, consider making the approximately two-hour drive to the 8,848-foot-tall Poás Volcano, featuring a crater approximately one mile wide.

Take Me To Tortuguero
Let’s journey to Tortuguero, a National Park nestled on the Caribbean coast. Much like the other parks we’ve explored, Tortuguero boasts rainforests, mangroves, and pristine beaches. What sets this park apart is its exclusive accessibility by boat or plane. Situated in the province of Limon, this vital conservation area harbors a diverse array of flora and fauna, featuring sea turtles, monkeys, and crocodiles.
Immerse yourself in the captivating experience of sea turtle watching, a primary activity in Tortuguero. Guided night tours offer the opportunity to witness these magnificent creatures laying their eggs on the sandy shores or observe the hatchlings embarking on their journey into the waters. If you prefer birdwatching, the park is a haven with over 400 bird species, including toucans, parrots, and herons, awaiting your discovery.

Engage with Corcovado
Just when you believe you’ve seen all of Costa Rica’s breathtaking landscapes, we present Corcovado National Park. Nestled on the southern Pacific coast, it stands as one of the world’s most biodiverse regions, boasting some of the country’s most exquisite and secluded beaches. Nature enthusiasts will find themselves in paradise, with opportunities to explore lowland rainforests, highland cloud forests, and coastal marine areas.
The park’s wildlife is equally extraordinary, featuring over 500 tree species, 400 bird species, and 140 mammal species. Don’t forget your binoculars, as you may catch a glimpse of jaguars, pumas, crocodiles, snakes, or turtles. In the coastal marine areas, keep an eye out for the chance to spot dolphins and whales, adding an extra layer of wonder to your Corcovado experience.

Elevated Moments in Monteverde
Concluding our exploration is the renowned Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, nestled in the Cordillera de Tilarán mountain range. This captivating rainforest is enveloped in a thick veil of mist, creating an enchanting and mystical ambiance. The air is filled with the constant symphony of exotic bird calls, reminiscent of scenes from a fantasy film. Established in 1972, Monteverde boasts an impressive collection of over 2,500 plant species, including numerous orchid varieties.
Embark on a journey through the reserve’s network of walking trails, such as Sendero Bosque Nuboso, Sendero Camino de la Leche, and Sendero Wilford Guindon. Choose one of these paths, and you’ll encounter the suspension bridge known as The Skywalk, skillfully constructed with a variety of sustainable materials.
